I have developed the habit of not taking pictures because someone else is already taking pictures, and often they have a better camera than I do. The downside of my choice is that I don’t have many photos to share and thus less inspiration to write up a blog. So perhaps it is time for me to take up picture taking again
Three things I wanted to share about in this entry: my cinnamon buns, the beautiful skyline, and the cute little cat who has decided to adopt us.
Start with the cinnamon buns. Most of my exploits in the kitchen have been more cooking related lately, like trying to make different kinds of potage with broccoli, or squash or making curry dishes. This weekend I finally cracked for making something sweet, and I ventured a cinnamon bun recipe using spelt flour. Saturday night I had the craving, but seeing the time it would take to make I decided to wait until Sunday morning thinking I could leave the dough to rise while I went to church. Then in the morning as I was putting the dough together, I realized my yeast was quick-rise yeast and my dough only needed one time to rise. Which meant that I was slightly late leaving for church because I wanted make up the rolls instead of just the dough…and of course, the dog had to barf too. :s
Anyways, I was quite happy with how they turned out and at the rate they are disappearing, my housemates are too
While I am not always keen at the thought of it being dark by 4:30pm, I have been delighted by all the beautiful sunsets I have witnessed in the past few weeks. It’s not so much the sun itself, but the array of colours in the sky just before the sun disappears on the horizon. Purples, pinks, reds, oranges all melding together into something spectactular (and hard to capture on camera
). Makes me in more and more in awe of the One who crafted it all.
There is a really cute little kitten who has kind of adopted us for the moment, though one of my housemates doesn’t want her in the house. She was born in the summer and was hanging out in the barns out back until it got a bit cooler. Now she hangs out by our back porch, she plays with the other cats and Bobette, and hopes to enter into the house whenever the door is opened up. We made her a little box with blankets so she has a warmer place to sleep and give her some of our leftovers, but it’s hard to resist letting her come indoors. Funny how a little animal works their way so quickly into your heart.
Last weekend while I was at Camp 5, they showed part of the preview for the pixar movie “Up!”. I liked it so much, that I borrowed the movie and watched it this weekend. So funny and enjoyable. I might even watch it again before I return it. And I would definitely recommend it if you haven’t seen it already. Here’s a link to the trailer
Well, that’s all for now. Thanks for reading! À la prochaine

Cute widdle kitty! It looks a lot like my family cat who died last year! You could bring it to me for my birthday! (Ha! Trevor would have a fit though….)

Good job with the cinnamon buns, sister! They look delicious! I don’t know if this is how you should use it, but I’ve found that you can use quick rise yeast and then leave it to rise in a place that’s not as warm so it takes a bit longer…. But that could be a reason why my yeast baking doesn’t rise as much as I hope in the oven. Haha
That cat is so cute!
